PASSAIC — Two North Jersey men — one from Passaic, the other from Garfield — have been arrested on drug charges, accused of selling ecstasy pills to undercover detectives for $2,600, authorities said Friday.
Anthony Ahmad, 18, of Passaic, and Brian Ruiz, 20, of Garfield, were arrested Thursday in Passaic. John L. Molinelli, the Bergen County prosecutor, said Ahmad sold 100 ecstasy pills to an undercover detective for $510 on July 15. Ahmad and Ruiz were taken into custody after they sold 400 ecstasy pills to an undercover detective on Thursday for $2,100, Molinelli said. A search of Ruiz’s residence yielded an additional 50 ecstasy pills and more than six ounces of marijuana, the prosecutor said.
Ruiz was charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and one count of distribution of marijuana. Ahmad was charged with a single count of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance. Both were arraigned Friday in Central Municipal Court in Hackensack and were being held at the Bergen County Jail on Friday night with bail set at $75,000 each.
