Music and art combine in the reopening of HMV at the Metrocentre where customers will find a jazzed-up shopping experience.

The music and film store, reopening this Friday upstairs in the Gateshead shopping centre next to Primark, is now sporting a whole new look.

It is the first store in the North East - and one of just a few countrywide - to show off the new rebranding.

Outside the London area, the only other new-look HMV stores are in Oxford, Solihull and Liverpool and the Metrocentre branch also has been given a unique touch of its own, with the shop sporting vibrant artwork by local talents.

Freelance artists Glenn Malpass and Newcastle-based Toothrag have brightened up the walls in trademark style with HMV showing off some images of the new look on Instagram ahead of the opening.

The revamp has been under way since the store's closure in August and returning customers will be able to see the results upon its relaunch - complete with new stock - from later this Friday.

After that, its opening hours this weekend will be from 9am until 7pm on Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday, followed by 9am-9pm mid-week.
