Even Kelly Ripa isn’t immune to the charms of Nicholas Galitzine. The Live with Kelly and Mark co-host welcomed Anne Hathaway onto her show this morning to chat about the buzzy new romance The Idea of You, in which Hathaway and Galitzine play lovers who meet in unlikely circumstances at a music festival.
Hathaway stars in the film as a 40-year-old single mom who falls for Galitzine’s character, a boy band member in his 20s. While chatting about her latest project, Hathaway shared a clip from the film with Ripa and her co-host of the day, Steve Patterson, who was filling in for Mark Consuelos.
With her husband absent, Ripa couldn’t resist sharing her honest reaction to seeing Galitzine onscreen.
After the clip — in which Galitzine’s character calls Hathaway’s character “hot” — concluded, Ripa seemed at a loss for words, before managing to say, “He’s cute,” with a laugh. Hathaway replied, “He’s alright.”
And Ripa wasn’t the only one falling under Galitzine’s spell. Patterson told Hathaway, “When you meet, there is an immediate chemistry that you sense as you watch it. You’re like, ‘Oh, something’s gonna go down here.'”
He added, “People lay eyes on you and they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, Anne Hathaway,” and then this dreamboat comes on and I was like, ‘Who is this gentleman?’ He’s very attractive.”
Hathaway told the co-hosts that she, too, was immediately drawn to Galitzine. While she said that she had “met with so many wonderful actors” during the audition process for The Idea of You, she knew Galitzine was the one right away.
“Nick walked in the room and I giggled,” she revealed. “He was just it, he was just it. We started acting together and it was like we’d known each other forever. And then he started to sing and … it’s something else. He can play the guitar and the piano.”
