Is Yellowstone on Paramount Network Tonight (April 28)?

If you tune into Paramount Network on Sunday, April 28, you sadly won’t be getting a new episode of Yellowstone. But you know what you will get? A Bar Rescue marathon, of course!

When Does Yellowstone Return With New Episodes?

So what’s the grand plan for Yellowstone‘s Season 5, Part 2 return? Currently, Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 is set to premiere at an unspecified date in November 2024 on Paramount Network. As always, until the episodes are filmed and the date is official set that plan can change, but a recent Puck report alleged that “the final episodes” of Part 2 of are “already written” and that filming was set to begin shortly. So maybe November will be the real deal!

Is Kevin Costner Leaving Yellowstone?

Once Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 does return, will Kevin Costner be back on our screens as John Dutton? We…still don’t know. After Yellowstone Season 5, Part 1 wrapped, explosive reports suggested Sheridan and Yellowstone star and executive producer Costner were feuding. In May 2023, fans learned Costner would be leaving the Yellowstone franchise after Season 5 and wouldn’t return for Season 5, Part 2 until he approved of his character’s final storyline.

In June 2023, Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter he was “disappointed” by Costner’s exit, but in a hopeful twist, he assured fans, “I don’t do fuck-you car crashes… Whether [Dutton’s fate] inflates [Costner’s] ego or insults is collateral damage that I don’t factor in with regard to storytelling.” When asked if he will be receiving his salary for the second half of Season 5, Costner detailed struggles experienced while negotiating. Per People, he said, “I will probably go to court over it.”

We went a stretch of time without major updates, until Costner gave additional comment in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to,” Costner said. “I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

Will Yellowstone Have A Season 6?

John Dutton or not, will there be a Yellowstone Season 6? Sadly, it doesn’t appear so. In May 2023, it was confirmed that Yellowstone Season 5 would be the show’s final season, which means Season 6 likely won’t be a go. 

Yellowstone Spinoff Updates: The Status Of 1944 and 2024

As a reminder, two new Yellowstone spinoffs — 1944 and 2024 — are in the works, so you won’t be completely cut off from the Dutton’s world. Specific plot details have yet to be released, but Variety reports 2024 will begin airing after Yellowstone ends and feature “new cast members and locations with some crossover characters as well.” This is also the spinoff that may include Matthew McConaughey.

When Does Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga Premiere?

Something else you can watch to fill the Yellowstone hole in your heart is Kevin Costner’s upcoming multi-part Western movie Horizon: An American Saga, which he starred in, directed, co-wrote, and produced.

Horizon: An American Saga Part 1 is scheduled to premiere on June 28, with Part 2 releasing on August 16. Before the two-part movie hits theaters, the highly-anticipated Western will make its world premiere on May 19 at the Cannes Film Festival. “I’ve been waiting for the right time to return and I’m proud to say that this time has come,” Costner told Variety. “Horizon, An American Saga is a story that began 35 years ago, and I can’t think of a better place than Cannes to reveal to the world the result of such a wonderful adventure. The French have always supported films and believed deeply in filmmaking. Just as I believe deeply in my film.”
