K-pop boy band NCT Dream returned today (July 15) with “Fireflies,” an inspirational new single performed completely in English. The song arrived after group was named the World Scout Foundation’s first global ambassador, and was released in collaboration with that organization.
An exuberant electro-pop track that rolls along over rhythmic guitar and shining synth melodies, “Fireflies” is NCT Dream’s second single of 2019 following June’s “Don’t Need Your Love” with Hrvy. The new track offers up an impressive display of the six band members’ expressive, harmonious vocals.
The song relays an effervescent motivational message, “I know it’s hard sometimes to see the light/ But you and I keep on dreamin’,” members sing in the pre-chorus, before the song explodes with the choral refrain that promises to “light it up” and “make the stars align” “brighter than the fireflies.”

The proceeds of “Fireflies” will be used to fund Scout activities in low-income countries, says NCT Dream’s company SM Entertainment.
NCT Dream, the rotational teen-age group under SM Entertainment’s larger NCT boy band umbrella, will head to West Virginia on July 23, where they will perform at the 24th World Scout Jamboree at the Summit Bechtel Reserve.
