The screams for K-pop superstars BTS were audible well before E!’s Jason Kennedy and Tanya Rad got the chance to interview them live on the red carpet before the 2019 Billboard Music Awards this Wednesday (May 1).
Before the group performs at the BBMAs for the second time in two years — this time with fellow megastar Halsey, on their Hot 100 top 10 hit collab “Boy With Luv” — they talked with the E! co-hosts about the musicians they were most excited to meet at the show. Besides Halsey, the group mentioned Drake, Madonna and “our friend Khalid.”
Speaking of Halsey, the group also flashed the friendship bracelets that Halsey got them earlier this week, and talked about the color scheme behind them. “Our cover of the album is pink, so she made it like, white and pink,” the group’s RM explained. “That was like, so kind of her.”
As for their dapper looks, V, Suga, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Jimin and J-Hope were all decked out in Alexander McQueen.
Elsewhere on the red carpet, Sirius XM’s Sway Calloway presented the group with the top social artist trophy, their third straight year winning the award. “This means so much for us,” RM raved. “We’ll do our best today. That’s all we can do.”
In addition to their top social artist win, BTS is also up for top duo/group at this year’s BBMAs.
