BTS Earn Sixth No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales Chart With ‘MIC Drop’

BTS continue their domination on the Billboard charts and further cement their stateside impact by going No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales chart with "MIC Drop (Remix)" featuring Desiigner.

BTS continue their domination on the Billboard charts and further cement their stateside impact with their latest single.

The band’s “MIC Drop” jumps from No. 8 to No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart thanks to its exciting new remix featuring Desiigner and new production from Steve Aoki. As previously reported, the song sold 45,000 downloads, according to Nielsen Music to help it secure a spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The trap-infused braggadocio anthem was already one of the more popular tracks on BTS’ new Love Yourself: Her EP, originally debuting at No. 7 on World Song Sales and has spent 11 weeks on the chart to date.

This new accomplishment extends BTS’ bag of No. 1s on World Digital Song Sales to six, marking their fourth chart-topper on the chart in 2017. Earlier this year, the guys topped the chart with the singles “Spring Day,” “Not Today” and “DNA,” while also scoring two No. 1s last year with “Fire” and Blood Sweat & Tears.”

BTS lead among an exclusive (but growing) group of K-pop acts to top the tally. Behind BTS is PSY with his four No. 1s, BIGBANG and Blackpink have three each, EXO and 2NE1 have two apiece, while CL, Twice, and G-Dragon and Taeyang have also collected No. 1s.

A fun chart fact: Desiigner is now the second U.S. artist to score a No. 1 on World Digital Song Sales thanks to a K-pop collaboration. The first was none other than Snoop Dogg, when he joined PSY on “Hangover” with the track hitting No. 1 on the chart dated June 28, 2014.
