82% Tomatometer 89 Reviews 67% Audience Score 1,000+ Ratings A chronicle of the life of one of the darker Marvel characters, the mysterious Jessica Jones. When a tragedy puts an end to her short-lived career as a superhero, Jessica settles in New York City and opens her own detective agency, called Alias Investigations, which seems to be called into cases involving people who have special abilities. Suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome, Jessica wants to do good, but her primary interest isn't in saving the world, it's saving her apartment and getting through each day. Based on a graphic novel intended for adults, this is not a superhero story for the kids. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Buy Now

While Jessica Jones is a slower burn with less focus than its inaugural season, its enticing new character arc more fully details the most charismatic Defender.

Cameron Glover Bitch Media Though this season of Jessica Jones was directed entirely by women, it continues a harmful trend of resting its feminist heroism on the backs of the people of color. And perhaps, that is Jessica Jones's greatest downfall. Mar 5, 2021 Full Review Eric Deggans NPR Rosenberg works closely with Krysten Ritter, who plays Jessica, to balance the show's dark drama with snarky jokes. Nov 25, 2019 Full Review Valerie Anne Autostraddle I loved the second season, and I think it was cleverly written, well crafted, beautifully acted, and visually stunning. But I don't think any villain will ever be as scary to me as Kilgrave. Apr 28, 2018 Full Review Jim Rohner Battleship Pretension Jessica Jones is the only Netflix-exclusive Marvel TV series that's really worth your time. Apr 15, 2021 Full Review Dylan Ford Cultured Vultures Fantastic character development keeps the show afloat, and Jessica continues to pave the way forward for realistic female heroes in spite of the season's general lack of direction. Rated: 6.5/10 Oct 8, 2019 Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof Jessica Jones returns with an interesting story that must be developed gradually, but that gives you a good fifty minutes per episode. Audience Member While this season lacks the flare and energy of the first, it makes up for it with a more emotional lense on some even more mind-bending predicaments for one of the most underrated heroines of MCU. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Gevorg H They tried too hard to portray Jerry as someone needing sympathy. And Malcolm's choices in the very end cast sad feelings for him from audience POV. Otherwise interesting season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Vitoria F The main differential of the series in the first season, mystery, was replaced by action. The episodes became more dynamic, with several parallel plots, but none of them were as thought-provoking as the first season, leaving the series on the way to becoming another common action series. Still, I liked the mother and daughter story. It is a very interesting topic and very rarely discussed. Hogarth's plot was richer than the previous one, but again it ran separately from the main plot, affecting it in just a few moments. I think this is bad because the character is deep, but her potential is wasted, making her almost a filler. Trish guided the season, causing all the main events. Still, she wasn't exactly the protagonist. In the end, I think she was more like an unintentional villain. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/24 Full Review J I love every season of Jessica Jones! Favorite Marvel production to date! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/10/24 Full Review Michael Antony A Mikey's TV Review: Jessica Jones: (Season 2) Krysten Ritter IS Jessica Jones. Perfect in the role. But Carrie-Anne Moss devours the screen every time she's on. Her multi layered performance and story arc as Jeri Hogarth, hits the spot much more effectively than Trish's 'journey to superhero' one. As much as I love Rachael Taylor, her performance here began to grate... who's show is it again? And speaking of 'who' - what a waste of David Tennant! Surely the producers could have made more of his appearance than a few lines of witty banter, without any pay off? Hopefully he'll turn up again in Season 3 with something useful to contribute. Perhaps with Dr. Karl. We didn't see him die, and the world needs more Callum Keith Rennie. Great writing and another believable performance from Janet McTeer made me forgive the cheap production values. Once again Marvel/Netflix undoes the excellent work with their low budget. For a show about a 'super' there isn't much action. And what exactly ARE Jessica's powers? She can punch a hole through a car, but can't stop a bus driving away without help? Like most of these shows, it's still 2-3 episodes too long (yes, we get it Mothers/Daughters/Ying/Yang etc.) allowing a few soap opera moments to creep in. Not as good as season 1 then, but no Iron Fist either. I'm still a believer. Mikey's Rating: 3/5* Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/27/23 Full Review Gareth v Not a great second season. Still dark and moody but an ordinary and lazy main story and lack of a main protagonist disappoint. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
