Charles Solomon FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Excruciating. May 8, 2024 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media The noisy, mischievous character of Woody Woodpecker isn't for everyone, but this live-action and animated film offers simple messages in a heartfelt package that will likely find a young audience. Apr 18, 2024 Full Review Emiliano Basile EscribiendoCine Although aimed at children, the film is loaded with simple jokes and somewhat predictable humor. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/10 Apr 16, 2024 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation There’s barely enough going on here to distract children into sticking with Woody all the way to the finish. The anarchy is mild-mannered, the sight gags limp and the human interactions produce no laughs and little in the way of charm, either. Rated: 1/4 Apr 15, 2024 Full Review John Serba Decider I’ve always had a soft spot for Woody Woodpecker, but this chintzy movie made me like him less. It has no charm, no wit, no laughs, no hope. Apr 12, 2024 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com It’s an improvement over the last feature, and that’s impressive, with the production willing to put in some work to restore cartoon order to the movie, keeping it enjoyable enough to pass. I felt myself falling asleep halfway in. It was a step down from the original for me. Edit: okay, maybe I was too harsh on it. It’s really bad, but it’s not terrible. It’s a tad bit better than the original, but I hate these stupid woody woodpecker movies. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/24 Full Review Alexandria M A huge disappointment to the franchise. The entire personality of the bird is to cause problems to save the forest but this movie is just a giant participation trophy saying share. No. Just no. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/10/24 Full Review CJ F It's pretty good, The story is good, the characters are good, but I don't think the CGI looks ok to the public. I think it'll be good at the box office anyway Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review SkyRo P Woody Woodpecker's goes to camp was a complete disaster on the big screen. I cannot in good conscience recommend this film to anyone. The CGI in this film was subpar, making the characters seem out of place in a live-action setting. The walrus, the vulture, and Woody himself looked absolutely absurd. The voice acting and performances were also far too exaggerated. The plot was lackluster and failed to hold my interest. It was simply not enjoyable and more suited for younger children under the age of six. Older audiences are likely to be bored by this film.
