British Film Institute (BFI) reposted this
Today is #NationalCreativityDay, so we're celebrating one of our recent graduates, James Collins, who followed his creative instinct and, as a result, landed his dream job at the British Film Institute (BFI) 💫 James studied MA Screenwriting at Birkbeck. Stuck in a career in the music industry that he didn’t enjoy, James decided to pursue his love of film and storytelling by undertaking a master’s degree. This enabled him to embark on a career change, which he told us about on his graduation day 👇 "I’ve always loved film and film making, it just felt like a completely inaccessible industry to me because I didn’t know anyone in that world, and that’s a big thing that people always tell you that you need within the film and the television industries. So I thought studying would be a great way of building confidence in my own writing for screen, but also for meeting like-minded people. I built an awful lot of confidence through the course and gained lots of practical and industry knowledge and now I’m lucky enough to be working at the British Film Institute. I work directly with writers every day, developing their stories and ideas, anything from an outline to production-ready screen plays. I never, ever thought that would happen, so that’s really cool. No more Sunday scaries!" Congratulations, James! #bbkgrad
