BREAKING NEWS: Announcing 2024’s Kidscreen Awards winners

After dominating the shortlist with 27 nominations, Disney added 20 new trophies to its case, including three for Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
February 5, 2024

Magical moments were plentiful for Disney at the 2024 Kidscreen Awards ceremony in San Diego last night. The Mouse House scored 20 wins, besting Netflix, Paramount Global and Sesame Workshop, which snagged five trophies each.

Disney Channel’s comic-book adaptation Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur had a particularly stellar showing, winning Best Animated Series, Best One-Off, Special or TV Movie and Best in Class in the Kids Programming category.

Adding to the trophy haul with three wins of its own was Disney+ series The Muppets Mayhem, which took home Best New Series and Best Live-Action Series in Kids Programming, as well as a Creative Talent Award for Best Music.

Meanwhile, perennial contender Sesame Street kept pace for the most wins by a single property, coming out on top for Best Holiday or Special Episode in Preschool Programming, plus Best Web/App Series—Branded and Best YouTube Channel in the Preschool Digital category.

As for Kidscreen Awards 2023 leader Netflix, this year the streamer brought home five trophies, including two for its popular anime adaptation One Piece—Best in Class in Tweens/Teens Programming and a Creative Talent Award for Best Design.

Other notable wins included TVOKids (Best Kids-Only Streaming Service); PBS KIDS (Channel of the Year); and Kidscreen Awards hosts Ray Aboud, Mercedes Gaztambide and Creo Walters (stars of CBC Street Cents), who were conveniently on hand to accept Street Cents‘ award for Best Web/App Series—Original.
