Travelers Cancelled After 3 Seasons — Watch Eric McCormack Announcement
Travelers‘ journey has ended at Netflix. The streamer has cancelled the Eric McCormack sci-fi drama after three seasons.
McCormack made the announcement in a video posted to social media on Friday.
“A lot of you have been asking about the possibility of a Season 4, but many of you have been saying, ‘Look, if this is it, what a moving and surprising and profound ending it is.’ Well, I’m afraid it is [the end],” he said. “Who knows what the future holds, but Travelers Program 1, as we call it, is complete… Much love from 3468 in the 21st.”

Series creator Brad Wright also reacted to the cancellation on Twitter, and took a moment to thank the cast, the crew and the “#BestFansEver.”

McCormack starred as Grant MacLaren, the leader of a team of highly trained operatives from the future who traveled back in time to the 21st Century. There, they occupied the bodies of present-day people as part of a strategic plan to save humanity from a series of disasters.
Travelers first launched on Canada’s Showcase network back in 2016. Netflix handled international distribution, then took over as the sole production company ahead of Season 3.
The final season was released on Friday, Dec. 14, capping the series’ run at 34 episodes. TVLine’s Streaming Scorecard has been updated to reflect the cancellation.

I watched the first season and liked it. If I finish season 2&3, does it have a cliffhanger?
Not really a cliffhanger. It left open a pathway for a next season, but I’m really satisfied with how it ended.

Not a huge cliffhanger. A slight one but some even said that it was not a cliffhanger. It’s worth watching seasons 2 and 3.
I was very disappointed there would be no season 4. I would have like there to be an ending, either the future environment was improved or not with some travelers choose to return home and some stay but the mission of the grand plan to have or not worked out and these travelers choices were and why.

but they’re not wrong; although a season 4 would make me extremely happy, season 3 did have a strangely satisfying ending.
Can barely remember Season 3; from what I do recall, they had really dropped the ball. Not enough (right) tech and too much blah, blah. It’s strange how whenever a show is RLY good (like Travelers), funny things happen…
Either they try to dumb it down, for general audiences (and ruin it), or things start to fly over people’s heads and it gets cancelled. :( Quite possibly, good writers start asking for more money and producers think they can do without ’em and, again, shows get ruined, meh. Dark Matter, Alphas (who can remember how AWESOME that used to be) and a bunch of others… Instead we’re left with Legends Of Tomorrow, Black Mirror and other such nonsense.
I loved the show. And I would love to see the second travelers program. I didn’t feel the ending was satisfying. It was heartbreaking. I wish the show hadn’t been canceled. I could probably watch another 10 seasons of many different varieties. I mean, if Grey’s Anatomy can go on for 15+ seasons why not a show like this??
Aww, too bad. But I still think I need to rewatch season 2 to fully grasp everything in season 3. While I might have been interested going forward, it did make your head start to spin when you considered all the ramifications and the what ifs and how does this continue on with 3468 because.. and that is where your eyes begin to cross.
So bummed I’ve watched this show again and again it’s just so good. I know most people are ok with the end of season 3 but I was really hoping for a season 4 so we could see what happens. Wish they would give us a movie at least like with sense8 and shadowhunters =//
Season 4 would not have had the same cast, because everything was reset. Well, Eric would be back, but no one else.
Not true. Brad Wright had the flow of the show worked out for seven seasons, if I am not mistaken.

Yeah, seems that way. Zero effort put into promoting it, unfortunately… still, if you like timey-wimey things, the 3 seasons can be watched as a finished product, no reason not to still give it a chance ;)
I really looked forwards to see much more of this show. If I’m not mistaken it should have been on for at least 7 seasons. Why end it after three?

Shocked and upset. Finally a fresh, positive and unique show that was worth watching. And bang it’s canceled. Happend with another brilliant one Person of interest…i will never get involved eith any more show. One after one the best are canceled. Leaving us with junk.
Person of Interest was canceled but they knew in advance. It was a good finale season and very fitting. I prefer that to a series that goes on and until no one cares anymore.
That’s also the beauty of 12 monkeys. They gave us an ending. And it was epic.

I agree, I’m so sick of watching netflix to get emotionally invested and then for whatever reason they cancell it. All the best shows just gone forever. I wish the exec’s would stop getting involved and just let us watch tv.
This is exactly how I feel. Many people are moving away from Network TV. Netflix has some amazing shows but they get going, suck you in and then just end.

I’m satisfied with the three seasons we got. I’ll miss all these characters, they were so well written and acted, there wasn’t a weak character in the bunch. I loved all the twists and turns over the three seasons and how even the minor characters brought a great depth to the stories. Thanks cast and crew for a wonderful ride. (David and Marcy forever!!!!!!)
Not sure I understand the cancellation. Travelers was in Netflix’s top streams for weeks after season 3 premiered. I’d love to know the reasoning behind the cancellation.
I loved the premise of this show and the writers and actors followed through brilliantly.

Why does Netflix only keep shows on that are geared towards tweens? They canceled Sense8, Travelers and The OA. There isn’t a single show on Netflix anymore that is worth watching. I’m ready to cancel my subscription.
If you haven’t already give izombie a try. I’m in my 50’s and was pleasantly surprised with this show. I never watched it while on broadcast because I didn’t think it was geared for me, I binge watched the four seasons on Netflix and really enjoyed it.
Tried watching it; just too youth oriented with a slight comedic twist on the zombie trend with teens. Another CW teen show.
I’ve been watching iZombie. First season or two was not bad, but then it becomes repetitive and goes downhill.
The OA hasn’t been canceled, it’s just taking them forever to produce season 2. But, yeah, I’m also not happy about the direction Netflix is going. And all the reality shows :/ They’re visibly going for the cheap stuff – and there’s enough of that on traditional TV…
Netflix’s morphed into another CW. Juvenile shows with equally juvenile writing along with smattering of reality shows.
Tweens/Millennial demographics is their new market. Mature series and top notch writing is pretty much extinct.
This series unfortunately did not receive or was properly recognized by mainstream media.
Not every show is going to be superior to network television. Netflix has to pay the bills too, just like any other network. the 18-24 demo is where the money is. Be thankful for all the programming that Netflix creates, sponsors, and distributes worldwide.
I’llreiterate; Travelers was a great show and has since TURNED into a CW type business model. Netflix didn’t create Travelers. Unsure how this correlates to network tv…Netflix isn’t like a typical channel on your tv as its internet based streaming platform variety.
I could care less about their bills as long as we as the paying consumer pays our share to finance their programming. And we as the demographic consumers of mature quality shows; don’t care for CW type shows. Surely any business model isn’t myopic to the Millennial demographics milking; that’s pretty much why CW exists and there’s their parent company CBS All Access for anything beyond PG.
If Netflix continues along this path; all the power to them. I’ll simply take my business to companies that are more in sync with my tastes including HBO, STARZ, Showtime, PRIME, etc. Thankfully this day and age we’re not stuck watching CW’esque programming.
Check out Dark. There’s only one season so far, but it’s really good!! I also loved Sense 8, travellers, and OA. Still a few episodes away from the end of Travellers, and still, still waiting on next OA.
Love this show. Have watched it through several times – it’s so entertaining and well done. Would have loved a season 4 but at least they tied up the story very well and I am satisfied with how the series ended

Travelers was the whole reason that I wanted Netflix. Season 3 was SO, SO good. And the ending was wonderful….
Pretty surprising to say the least. I was kind of stunned the producers felt a need to write a potential series finale into season 3. It would be one thing if they announced this would be the last one going in – but this, like Luke Cage, is a joke. I’m guessing Stranger Things is next.
Just finished season 3, immediately after I searched for when season 4 would be released. Absolute disappointment, there was so so much potential for a season 4 and beyond. Bummed and confused to say the least.
